Frequently asked questions
What is the real APR?
It is the annual rate that equates what you receive (the principal minus upfront costs) with the present value of what you pay (instalments plus tied insurance). Capital works it out from the cash flows of your offer, not from the rate the bank quotes.
How is it different from the APR my bank gives me?
The APR on the bank’s sheet follows a regulation and depends on which costs and insurance the bank treats as mandatory. Capital’s real APR includes everything you enter, so it lets you compare two offers on equal terms.
Is Capital free?
It is free to download and has ads. Removing the ads and Capital Pro are separate one-time purchases with no subscription. Pro does not remove the ads.
Does my data leave my device?
The calculations run on your device and Capital has no user accounts. Ads are served by third-party ad networks, with your consent where the law requires it. The privacy policy has the details.
Does it work for variable-rate loans?
Capital calculates with a constant rate. For a variable-rate loan the result holds until the next rate review.
Which languages does it support?
Spanish, English, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese. It runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later.
Is this financial advice?
No. Capital is an informational tool. The figures depend on what you enter and are not an offer or a recommendation.
